Organic South American Yerba Maté gives this spicy chai an extra smooth feel.  Bold chunks of organic cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon compliment fantastically the grassy, mildly smoky flavor of the maté leaf.  A relative of the holly bush, maté has been extremely popular for years in Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina, and has recently begun gaining many fans in North America.  Releasing its caffeine much slower than coffee or tea, maté does not give the jitters, and is often drunk as a super healthy and natural energy drink.  As they do in India, we recommend trying this one with cream (or milk) and sugar. Yerba Maté has over 196 active compounds (more than green tea!) and is said to strengthen the heart, aid in weight loss, and help with fatigue and headaches.
