Pay: $17/hr
Job Type: Part-time (30-35 hrs/week)

Chad's Chai Teahouse is seeking a motivated and reliable Bakery Assistant to join our team. As a Bakery Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the preparation and creation of the delicious pastries we offer to our customers. Our bakery operates in a Department of Agriculture-inspected kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and food quality. Expectations / Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and baking of a variety of pastries, including but not limited to scones, bread, cakes, cookies, and more.
Follow recipes and ensure consistent quality and portion sizes for all baked goods.
Maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with health and safety standards.
Measure and prepare ingredients, ensuring all items are ready for baking at the appropriate times.Operate bakery equipment safely, including mixers, ovens, and other kitchen appliances.
Assist with packaging and labeling baked goods for display and sale.
Help with inventory management and stocking of ingredients.
Monitor product quality and freshness, discarding any items that do not meet our standards.
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation protocols, including those specific to a Department of Agriculture-inspected kitchen.
Collaborate with the bakery team and communicate effectively to ensure smooth operations.
Assist with other duties as needed to support the smooth operation of the bakery and teahouse.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a bakery or food production setting preferred, but not required.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and consistency.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, especially in a commercial kitchen setting.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
Must be reliable, punctual, and have a positive attitude.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends (Wednesday-Sunday).
Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for long periods of time.
Experience with Asian, Middle Eastern, or other non-Western baking traditions is a plus, but not required.
